In conjunction with the Iowa Energy Bank and MidAmerican Energy, Baker Group has been working diligently with the Sioux City Community School District for the past year on a district-wide energy conservation program.  One of the projects of particular interest was an LED retrofit of the house lights in the Auditoriums for each of the three High Schools built in 1974. The old lighting systems used 400 to 500 Watt incandescent bulbs that were both inefficient and short life cycle requiring constant replacement.  The old controls systems were unstable and would randomly turn on and off at will - often in the middle of a performance.   

The new lighting for each auditorium is now all high efficient LED technology with computerized controls allowing for unlimited lighting level options and schedules and has certainly eliminated the unwanted element of surprise during performances.  In addition to the energy savings, the life of the new LED lamps is approximately 15 years and will require far less replacement labor.  Faculty, students and performance patrons will benefit from these improvements for years to come.
