Wells Fargo contracted Baker Group to upgrade eight area corporate offices from fluorescent lighting to longer lasting, energy-efficient LED lighting. To further reduce Wells Fargo’s expenses, the upgrade was timed to leverage energy-efficiency rebates offered by MidAmerican Energy.
Among Wells Fargo’s eight office buildings, Baker Group:
- Removed ballasts and 73,000 fluorescent bulbs.
- Installed new lamp sockets, LED fixtures and bulbs.
- Recycled all used ballasts and bulbs.
- Met an aggressive 10-week installation schedule.
Off-hours installation
“Our goal at Baker Group is always to exceed expectations without disrupting our client’s daily operations. To accommodate Wells Fargo’s schedule, we had 35 electricians working at their facilities 40 to 50 hours a week, and after 6:00 p.m.,” says Brian Sparks, Baker Group’s project manager for the lighting upgrade.
Significant energy savings
In the first month after the LED lighting upgrade was complete, Wells Fargo saw a 40 percent reduction in energy consumption and costs. Additionally, the upgrade now means lower daily maintenance requirements and excellent light quality for employees.
