UnityPoint Health - Des Moines renovated their entire CICU, including patient rooms and nursing areas.  Baker Group was chosen to provide Design/Build services and installation for the Mechanical (HVAC and Plumbing) and Sheet Metal work.

Baker Group’s team updated, moved, and added new plumbing fixtures, and modified the plumbing piping to accommodate these changes.  Baker Group’s licensed medical gas team modified the medical gas piping to accommodate new head wall units in each patient room.  Sizing of all existing medical gas piping was verified to meet current code requirements, and the existing medical gas alarm panel was replaced.  Ductwork was modified to accommodate the new wall layout in the nursing areas, and the diffuser layout was changed to accommodate new walls and lighting layout.

Baker Group verified the location of existing plumbing, HVAC, and medical gas systems, and coordinated and phased the work such that part of the unit stayed on line at all times. Additionally, Baker Group scheduled specific work activities to minimize noise and disruption to normal hospital activities.
