Grand View University’s student population has steadily increased over recent years.  With more than 800 students living on campus, the Hull Dormitory Addition was constructed to plan for future enrollment growth.  This 42,000 sq ft 4-story dormitory is able to accommodate 160 students.

Baker Group designed and built both the plumbing & mechanical systems that were installed in the facility.  Highlights of the project include an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) that is able to provide ventilation air to the building while also capturing the energy from the building exhaust air that would otherwise be wasted.  Common areas were also designed with energy efficiency in mind, as high efficiency 2-stage split systems serve corridors, laundry areas, and lounges.

Baker Group worked closely with the owner’s Building Automation System contractor and commissioning agent to assure that the mechanical systems were installed and coordinated properly.  Each of the split systems and ERV unit are integrated into the campus BAS, allowing the owner to best serve and manage their customer’s comfort needs.
