Baker Group designed and installed the Mechanical and Sheet Metal for the Younkers and Powell nurseries located on the 6th floor of Iowa Methodist Medical Center.  The project consisted of approximately 2,000 SF of newly remodeled nursery interiors, additional exam spaces, and updated receptionist areas.

The hospital wanted to move existing sinks and add new ones where necessary.  Baker Group provided all plumbing necessary to accommodate these changes.  Additionally, the hospital wanted a change in the quantity and location of medical gas outlets, Baker Group reviewed existing medical gas piping, and designed and installed new piping to comply with current code requirements. 

Baker Group researched existing plumbing and ductwork to identify tie-in locations, and provided necessary medical gas inspections.  Baker Group modified existing ductwork and diffusers to support new room layouts.  Testing and balancing of the final system was also provided.

Working within an active wing of the hospital can bring challenges.  Baker Group was aware of this, and thoughtfully made scheduling and construction decisions to maintain appropriate noise levels so as not to interfere with patient comfort.
